The Midland Bay Sailing Club was established in 1966 and its first object was, and remains today, to promote an interest in recreational and competitive sailing on Georgian Bay among members and others. To meet this mandate, the Club has an active racing program and provincially recognized Sailing School for both youth and adults.

The Club is a strong self-help operation and most our club projects are completed with volunteer labour. Members are required to contribute a minimum of 20 work hours to the Club each fiscal year (Social member are required to contribute 5 hours each fiscal year) in order to facilitate Club projects and to foster a sense of camaraderie among members. Our Executive and Directors are volunteer members of the Club. We also service the community by hosting projects such as Sail for Hope, a fund raising project for the Canadian Cancer Society.

The Club also organizes both Dinghy and Keelboat races during the months of June – October.

To further facilitate camaraderie among the members, “Pub Nights” are held each Friday during the spring/summer season. The cost to the member for a Pub Night is $7.00. Those who organize a “Pub Night” are awarded Club Work Hours.

Currently, the costs involved for joining the Club are as follows:

  • Initiation Fee of $2,376, payable in 2 payments, one year apart.
  • Membership Fee and Services – please see our Fees Information Form.
  • Dinghy Members are responsible for 25% of the $2,376 initiation fee.

If you are interested in promoting our goals and actively participating in the activities of the Midland Bay Sailing club, we hope you will complete and mail in an application form and we will look forward to meeting with you.

As a community-based organization, our Constitution limits out of town members to a one-third ratio so there may be a waiting list. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the Club by email or regular mail.
